UNANIMOUS VOTE FOR LAURELS AVENUE...

We’re thrilled to announce that our design for 23 new homes off Laurels Avenue, Offenham, has officially been approved!

Working with Wychavon District Council and Rooftop Housing Group, we’ve designed a mix of high-quality, energy-efficient homes that celebrate the character of Offenham. This included affordable, shared ownership, and rental properties.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in this collaborative design journey, Zebra is incredibly proud that the Wychavon Planning Committee described the approved scheme as exemplar and voted unanimously in its favour. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

MARKING THE START ON SITE AT MARTON...

This week our Managing Director Chris Partington attended the handover of a specially inscribed date brick to mark the start on site for the development of 10 new rural affordable homes at Marton, Shropshire for Connexus.

The homes will be a mix of social rent and shared ownership and include a public space for use by the whole community.

The event was attended by Connexus’ new chair of board Anne Turner, Councilor Heather Kidd and Maria Howell from Shropshire Council, Marton-based construction partner SJ Roberts Construction Ltd, Wright Hassall LLP and Connexus colleagues.

STREETHAY...

We are really excited to announce the completion of Streethay Care Home, Caterham Crescent, Lichfield. Zebra have assisted in the delivery of 78 one- and two-bedroom Care Living apartments and 60 bungalows as part of the Streethay masterplan. We are proud to have worked closely with Keon and Sanctuary to provide high-quality independent living with a variety of communal care facilities, supporting both residents and the wider community providing planning and technical consultancy roles. We are really proud to have this in our portfolio of adult social care schemes and has further reinforced our knowledge and experience in this sector to sit alongside other ASC schemes such as Upperford Lodge,  Moorside Place, Comer Road, and Kingfields. We are also working on some other exciting care schemes – watch this space for future updates!

BRPD ... WHO IS TAKING THE LEAD?

Our Managing Director, Chris Partington, has been invited to deliver a talk on the Building Regulations Principle Designer (BRPD) role. In addition to running seminars to housing associations, he will also be speaking at UK Construction Week, Birmingham NEC.

With the new Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) role now in force under the Building Safety Act, Chris will clarify responsibilities, legal duties, and practical impacts—highlighting how BRPD differs from CDM roles—so designers, contractors, and clients can achieve compliance with confidence.

Join him for a 30-minute session at UKCW: https://lnkd.in/efns_wQ6

Iceworks...

We are thrilled to announce the completion of The Iceworks on Bromyard Road, Worcester. The project marries 19th-century industrial character with 21st-century living. Our design approach preserved the site's historic essence while introducing sustainable, modern elements. The result: 54 thoughtfully crafted two-bedroom apartments featuring ground source heat pumps, underfloor heating, and energy-efficient designs.
The apartments are currently for sale with @savills - check them out!

New Starter... Ryan

We are delighted to introduce the newest member of the Dazzle team: Ryan! He is joining us as an Architectural Assistant and will play a valuable role in supporting the team across all aspects of planning and design.

Celebrating Success: Zebra Architects Commended at Worcestershire Architecture Awards 2024

Worcestershire Architecture Awards 2024. I’ll probably do something on my own LinkedIn today about it, but it would be good to do a company wide one too.

Zebra are over the moon to have received commendations for two projects at yesterday evenings Worcestershire Architecture Awards! The commendations were for projects in the categories for ‘Unbuilt Project Outside Worcestershire’ and ‘Excellent Contribution to Conservation’, for the Former Griffin public house in Norwich, and Hillhampton Stables, Great Witley respectively. The Former Griffin proposal is an 87 unit extra care home, with shared facilities and guest suites. Hillhampton Stables is a refurbishment of a curtilage listed building, which we took from a semi dilapidated building to a high quality 3 bedroom house. Designed in conjunction with Historic England..

Hillhampton Stables

We took load of the dazzle, and all had a fab time!

19 Years of Zebra

Zebra Architects began 19 years ago, when our Managing Director Chris Partington had a vision for a family-centric working environment that prioritised the flexible needs of a team. Chris envisioned an innovative design studio that was sensitive to the external pressures of the team, and supportive of their unique circumstances. Understanding that people have lives outside of work, he wanted to create a business that could adapt to their needs.

In those early days, we started at the kitchen table, and within three months, we opened our first office in Trinity Street, Worcester. Our workload was varied, ranging from local housing developers to student operators. We believe that our authentic approach to business has helped us grow into the successful firm we are today.
